Why BYOK: you pay your model provider, not us

Branchlanes does not resell model tokens. You bring your own key, and you pay your model provider directly. We never mark up tokens, and there are no credits to buy.

What we charge for

Branchlanes charges a platform fee based on how many agent slots can run at once. Your model usage stays between you and your provider, so the cost of a run is visible on your own provider bill.

Keys never enter the sandbox

Agents run in sandboxes, and a sandbox is a poor place for a secret. Your key is stored encrypted and is never sent into the sandbox. Inside it there is only a proxy URL and a short-lived token that belongs to that one run.

When an agent calls a model, the call goes through the proxy. The proxy checks that the run is still live, applies the allowed models and request limits, and only then attaches your key for the upstream call. The key is never returned to the sandbox.

Limits on the proxy

Every run has call and spend limits, and a per-user daily spend counter applies as well. You set the spending cap for a goal when you create it.
